Our Story

Founded by Zillah Voss & Priya Shah in 2014 - Azimai has grown into the beautiful company that it is today through passion and a belief in doing the right thing for both humanity and the planet, however small your influence may be.

Based in the South Luangwa Valley, Azimai’s humble little workshop is now owned and run by Ashleigh Ellis who bought the company in 2025. A passionate creative as well as a believer in going back to our roots, to a more simple and natural approach to life, Ashleigh fell in love with Azimai and what it stands for.

Azimai produces candles, body products and bespoke amenities using Zambian Beeswax, Zambian cold pressed oils and African coconut oil & mango butter.

By basing our recipes around these ingredients Azimai helps to support local beekeepers and forest gatherers - providing them with an alternative income to charcoal production - and also ensures that indigenous tree fruits and pods become an income source - helping to encourage conservation of our much needed woodlands.
